Anomaly / Outlier Scan

“Was that move real or just noise?”

What broke pattern this month, before a quarterly review would have caught it.

Survival-informed (tenure-aware)
01
What you receive

Your metric, unusual periods marked

Visual placeholderSeries · flaggedYour metric, unusual periods marked

Your metric over time, with the periods that broke pattern flagged — scored against the range your own history says to expect, and only the genuine breaks marked, not everything that wobbled. Each flag carries how far outside the band it fell and the confidence behind the call.

02
The question it answers

Bring it in plain language.

  • “Was that dip in Q3 real or just normal variation?
  • “Which months were genuinely unusual, not just off-trend?
  • “Is last month's number actually an outlier or within the normal range?
What it does not do
  • Explain WHY a period was unusual
  • Predict future anomalies or monitor for new ones as they arrive
  • Prove that anything caused the anomaly
  • Identify individual customers within a flagged period
  • Flag periods too early in the history to have an expected band
A dated history of the metric, ideally monthly — around two full seasonal cycles before the first period can be judged, and a working minimum beyond that to certify the scan.
03
How it earns trust

Graded in the open, before you see it.

Proven on our published instrument. Re-certified on your data before anything releases.

Certified

A period is flagged only when it clears the range your own history says to expect — and the scan grades its own reliability before it makes a call.

Judged out-of-sample
Each period is measured against an expected band built only from data available before it — never fitted to the point it's judging.
Reports its own coverage
The band is calibrated on your history and the scan reports the coverage it achieved, so a flag carries a confidence read rather than an assertion.
Unscannable, not normal
Periods too early to have an expected band are marked unscannable, not quietly called normal. Too little history to judge, and it says so.
Rigour you can inspect is worth more than rigour you're asked to trust.
